Frequently Asked Questions
What additional parts will I need for a complete EA-FG Falcon Turbo Conversion?
To get this turbo kit running you will need to add a few parts depending on your existing setup, power goals and budget. We suggest the following at a minimum:
- 3″ intercooler piping (contact us for an intercooler piping kit to suit)
- 3″ silicone joiners and silicone clamps
- Boost controller or boost tee
- Boost gauge
- BOV such as this Turbosmart Kompact 34mm Dual Port
- Fuel system to support boost, pick from the following options:
- EA-BF E85 – Walbro 460 Fuel Pump & Bosch 1000cc Injectors
- EA-BF 98 – Walbro 255 Fuel Pump & Bosch 440cc Injectors
- FG NA plastic manifold 98 – FG NA 4 Bar Fuel Reg & FG NA 627cc Injectors (drop in)
- FG NA plastic manifold E85 – FG NA 4 Bar Fuel Reg & Bosch 980cc Extended Nose Injectors w/ Raceworks short -> 3/4 length extensions (drop in)
- FG Turbo cast manifold 98/E85 – FG Turbo 4 Bar Reg & Bosch 980cc 3/4 Injectors (note this reg only fits Turbo rails)
- Stock OEM fuel rails will work fine, but we also have Raceworks Billet Rails available
- Surge tank (if racing)
- Valve springs to handle the boost
- An engine management solution such as our Full House DIY Tuning Kit or Haltech Elite 750 or Nexus S3 for EA-AU, or our OBDX Pro FT Cable and 2 Bar MAP Sensor for BA-FG Falcon with PCMTec.
- Wideband O2 sensor to monitor your Air Fuel Ratio
- Some heat management to avoid melting brake boosters and wiring (eg. GT35 turbo beanie / some heat wrap / heat shield / plug boots / heat sleeve), and optionally, a decent exhaust system, surge tank, camshaft(s) to suit boost, etc.
How much power can I make with this kit?
The turbocharger in this kit is rated for 900hp. Realistically with a proper dyno tune the kit will be capable of up to 350-400rwkw with the right supporting mods. At lower boost levels a safe 250-300rwkw is achievable.
Can I fit this turbo conversion kit to a stock Falcon engine?
Yes! This kit is designed to be fitted to all Ford Falcon models and are compatible with EA EB ED XG EF XH EL AU BA BF FG through FG X. All models can be converted from NA to Turbo on the stock engine with moderate boost. You will need to upgrade valve springs on all models. Earlier EA-EL SOHC engines have stronger rods & pistons, and will handle more boost without engine work, while AU-FG NA engines have lighter pistons and rods that will require good tuning to be safe up to about 300rwkw. The standard fuel regulator and OEM fuel rail can handle boost. See the FAQ above for recommended upgrade options to go with your turbo conversion.
How difficult is installation of this turbo kit?
This kit is designed for DIY installation, and will require solid mechanical knowledge as you will be dealing with all systems on the vehicle – electrical, fuel, water, oil, air intake and exhaust. If this is out of your skill set, contact some of the Tuners on our website who can help you with installation as well as tuning.
What is the estimated shipping or postage time?
We generally keep this kit on the shelf ready to go and will ship within a few business days of ordering. Add the item to your cart to calculate shipping cost and choose between standard or Express postage options. We only charge what the courier charges, no more.
What if a full turbo conversion is out of my budget?
If a turbo kit is out of your budget right now, we can help with a range of cost effective mods such as camshafts and tuning that if chosen properly will be compatible with a turbo system down the track.
