Description
Raceworks Grade 5 Titanium Motorsport 1/8″ NPT Air Temperature Flylead Sensor.
Why choose Syltech motorsport sensors over the common brass sensors on the market?
- These sensors offer specifically chosen elements to operate within the temperature scales of motorsport cars and not your usual lower OEM factory temperatures. These scales ensure the largest voltage gaps between pull-up readings for the most accurate output, and to minimise ground gitters in problematic wiring harnesses.
- Internally these elements are completely sealed, in epoxy and affixed to high temperature multi strand tinned wire. This method minimises shorts and breaks between the element and the connector caused by harsh vibration and corrosion often seen in exposed rigid single core wired sensor equivalents.
- Elements are affixed to gold plated Deutsch DTM pins (0460-202-2031) and overmolded with PA66 high temp composite plastic housing to ensure a perfect fit for any 2pin Deutsch DTM06-2S connector.
- All shells are stainless steel, open element sensor tips are one piece with no plastic for harsh high pressure environments.
- Closed element fluid temperature sensors are filled with a thermal transfer compound and not hollow like others! This will ensure an even and fast temperature reading is registered by the element.
- Positive boost pressure support (tested up to 150psi, brass have been know to let go at only 25psi on occasion!)
Most brass sensors have two single strand wires floating an element in a hollow core. Over time, vibrations stress the 2 single strands of copper and cause breaks. These stainless sensors have many multiple strands per element covered in high temperature insulation to insure moisture ingress does not short or corrode away the copper.
Corrosion of the two single strand wires is also common (especially if ethanol fueled). Condensation pools in the base of the sensor which causes shorts (water bridges both wires together). For this reason you cannot mount the brass sensor under piping, only on top. Stainless version is completely sealed, allowing you to mount it however you want.
High temperatures can degrade the plastic shields used on some sensors, and mushroom it closed causing false low readings or slow response. High boost pressures and nos backfires have seen the black connector shoot away in an engine bay! Not possible with the stainless. These motorsport sensors are suspended in glass to avoid this problem.
Calibrations are available for all common ECUs.
