To put the programmer into bootloader mode (rough guide):

1.  Ensuring TunerPro is closed, Start HyperTerminal
2.  Connect to the serial port the programmer is using (use device manager
to work this out)
3.  Enter the letter A, and follow the on screen instructions.
4.  Once the programmer says you are in bootloader mode, go to the Call menu and choose disconnect. 
5.  Exit hyperteminal then unplug and replug the programmer from/to the USB port. 
6.  Run the HidBootLoader.exe.  It should say device detected. 
7.  Click on open hex file. Select the firmware you want to use.  
8.  Click Program/Verify, it should say verify ok. Verify again to be sure. If all went well you can click reset device.

Note: that this is a very risky process and it is not recommended end users perform this 
unless directed.  There is a high liklihood of damaging the programmer in the
process.  Whenever you unplug the programmer, leave it unplugged for at
least 10 seconds to allow the internal capacitors to discharge, otherwise
you may find you'll brick the programmer.
